Now Hiring: Construction Laborer / Project Laborer

Location: Abbeville LA (Various Jobsites Throughout South Louisiana)

Position Overview:

Acadiana Shell & Limestone, Inc. is looking for a dependable, hardworking Construction Laborer / Project Laborer to join our construction team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to learn the construction industry from the ground up. No previous construction experience is required. We will provide training and hands-on experience while you work alongside experienced project superintendents and heavy equipment operators.

Your responsibilities will vary depending on the project, making this a great opportunity to learn different aspects of construction, site work, grading, equipment operation, maintenance, and project preparation.

We’re looking for someone who is ready to work, willing to learn, takes direction well, and wants the opportunity to develop valuable construction skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Superintendent and heavy equipment operators with daily project activities.
  • Assist excavator, dozer, motor grader, loader, and other equipment operators as directed.
  • Perform manual labor including shoveling, raking, digging, grading and moving materials.
  • Assist with site preparation and general construction activities.
  • Install, remove and maintain temporary jobsite fencing, barricades and safety equipment.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance, greasing, fueling, cleaning and basic mechanical work.
  • Help keep jobsites clean, organized and safe.
  • Assist operators with positioning, measuring, grading and other project-related tasks.
  • Work around and safely alongside heavy construction equipment.
  • Use hand tools and small power tools as needed.
  • Operate small construction equipment when properly trained and authorized.
  • Load, unload and move materials, tools and equipment as needed.
  • Follow instructions from the Project Superintendent, Foreman and equipment operators.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Perform other construction and project-related duties as needed.

No Experience Required

Construction experience is a plus, but it is not required.

We are willing to train the right person.

This position is a great starting point for someone who wants to build a career in construction and learn how major projects are completed from the ground up. As you gain experience and demonstrate your abilities, there may be opportunities to learn additional equipment and take on greater responsibilities.

Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands-on construction position.

Applicants should be able to perform physical labor, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, shoveling, raking and working on uneven terrain for extended periods.
